Holding back on major expansion until 1666 to get tech 22 and the following 5 idea groups: (after ditching exploration) Innovative, Economic, Influence, Diplomatic and Offensive. (I considered this acceptable because this strategy was then left in the game until 1.12, so more or less tolerated by the devs). Westernizing quickly by bee-lining for south america and stealing a nearly finished colony from Portugal. Isolating Japans troops on their small islands to conquer them easily (which boils down more to AI stupidity than a cheat imo). This includes mission abuse and trade power shenanigans that used to be a thing. I used the same broad strategy that I had previously used to get the Three Mountains achievement (some might have seen it since I posted it to this sub), but this time without anything that I considered a game-breaking bug or exploit. Seriously, the game improved so much since common sense, it's incredible. I heard a lot of people on this sub claim that the Three Mountains was never done without exploits, so I spent a good 45 hours over the past two months trying to prove them wrong by playing a painful game in 1.8.1.
